A Testimony 10/25/09
It was written that all things work together for them that love Christ. Satan knows this and he will use every circumstance. No matter what the circumstances, God has a way to make good come from it. This is a reminder to all of us that things are always in God’s hands.
It all started two weeks ago. Our church is located next to the former location of a restaurant. The restaurant had moved, and the empty building had been sitting empty for months now. Occasionally the owner would open the building for a private party, but the area was often silent. One day, one of our brothers noticed a group of men cleaning out the restaurant. They had been coming out all week, and our brother asked the men what they were intending to do with some of the furniture they weren’t taking. The men said they were going to throw them away and our brother explained our outreach ministry. We explained the use of the furniture banc to help supply needy families with furniture. The men were impressed and told us we could take some tables and shelves.
We started to take the tables, but one of our sisters felt something was wrong. She checked the truck of the men and found the name they gave did not match what was on the truck. At that time, the restaurant owner’s sister had come on the scene. She called her brother, and he immediately came and called the cops.
The police arrived shortly thereafter. We had explained the situation and promptly returned everything the criminals had “given” us. We gave statements and took the officers throughout our building to show them our sincerity. The police saw for themselves that our testimony was true and we were cleared of any charges. On top of that, one of the officers was so impressed by our outreach that he made a small donation to our church.
Two days later, we received news the men were caught. The owner of the restaurant spoke to the director of our Furniture Banc and one of our business associates. Our business associate knew the owner and promptly explained the entire story to the restaurant owner. He immediately apologized for the misunderstanding and inconvenience to us. To show his gratitude, he donated furniture from a hotel he had recently acquired. His donation proved a tremendous blessing to our Furniture Banc!
Looking back, this situation provided another testimony to the greatness of God. He upheld our innocence, captured the guilty, and blessed us with more furniture for the outreach. I believe this great testament of God’s mercy and protection to the bride. To God be the glory!
